What we insure

Coverage built specifically for dually truck owners.

Standard personal auto policies exclude commercial use and undervalue your truck. We build dually programs that cover how you actually work.

Why dually owners choose us

The coverage gaps that leave dually owners exposed.

Most agents hand a dually owner a personal auto policy and call it done. Then a business use claim is denied or an ACV settlement comes in $20,000 short. We write coverage for what your dually actually is: a working commercial vehicle.

Run by people who know working trucks

Josh Cotner ran equipment and jobsites before founding CCA in 2005. We understand the gap between personal auto coverage and what a commercial dually truck actually needs.

From dually owners

Working truck owners who found coverage that actually fits.

I've got a Ram 3500 I use for towing my excavator. Dually Insurance got me the right commercial auto policy in 15 minutes — no hassle, no wrong coverage. Finally, someone who gets working trucks.

Marcus T.

Excavating Contractor · Texas

My F-350 dually is financed and heavily modified. Agreed value physical damage is non-negotiable for me. These guys found me a carrier that actually wrote it without trying to push me toward ACV. Big difference.

Shane R.

Custom Truck Owner · Wyoming

I haul livestock across three states with my Silverado 3500. One call and they had me set up with commercial auto, cargo, and non-trucking liability. Everything lined up perfectly.

Questions, answered

Dually truck insurance, in plain English.

Dually truck insurance is coverage specifically designed for dual-rear-wheel (DRW) pickup trucks — F-350/450, Ram 3500/4500, and Silverado/Sierra 3500 — that are used for commercial or heavy-duty purposes. Standard personal auto policies often don't provide the right coverage for these working trucks.

If you use your dually for any business purpose — hauling equipment, pulling trailers for clients, transporting goods — you need commercial auto coverage. Personal auto policies exclude business use, and a denied claim on a working dually can be financially devastating.

Agreed value means your insurer pays the stated policy amount if your dually is totaled — not a depreciated actual cash value (ACV). Given how much accessories, lift kits, and options are worth, ACV settlements on dually trucks can fall $10,000–$30,000 short of replacement cost.

Non-trucking liability (NTL) covers your dually when you're not under dispatch or operating for commercial purposes. It fills the gap between a motor carrier's insurance (on-dispatch) and personal coverage (which may exclude business-registered vehicles).

No. Commercial auto covers your truck — not the tools or equipment you carry in it. You need a separate tools & equipment (inland marine) policy for contractor tools, welding gear, and jobsite equipment.

Yes. Cargo insurance covers equipment, livestock, hay, tools, and goods hauled in your truck bed or on your trailer. It's a separate policy from commercial auto and is required if you're hauling for compensation.

ACV (actual cash value) pays depreciated value — often far below what you paid or what replacement costs. Agreed value pays the stated policy amount with no depreciation. For heavily optioned or modified dually trucks, the difference at total loss can be tens of thousands of dollars.

Yes, and it's often the smartest choice if your truck is financed. Agreed value ensures you receive enough to pay off the loan and potentially have funds toward a replacement, versus an ACV settlement that may leave you owing money.

Yes. We write commercial auto and livestock cargo coverage for dually owners who haul cattle, horses, and other livestock — both for personal ranching operations and for-hire transport.

It depends on the truck, how you use it, your driving record, your state, and the coverage lines you need. Commercial auto for a standard work dually might run $1,500–$4,000 annually. Full programs with physical damage, cargo, and tools add to that.

Commercial auto liability generally follows your dually when it's towing a trailer you own. However, physical damage to the trailer, cargo on the trailer, and liability for certain trailer types may require separate policies.

Owner-operators typically need: commercial auto (or motor truck cargo if authorized), non-trucking liability for off-dispatch use, physical damage (collision and comprehensive), and cargo coverage. We structure these to coordinate without gaps.

Yes, though your rates will be higher. We work with non-standard commercial auto markets that write dually trucks for owners with driving history issues.

Yes. A commercial umbrella adds $1M–$5M of liability protection over your primary commercial auto policy — important for contractors and haulers who need higher total limits.

Year, make, model, GVW rating, VIN, how you use the truck (business or personal), what you haul, your DOT number if applicable, and your driving history. The more detail, the more accurate your quote.

Not necessarily. DOT registration requirements depend on the weight of your truck and trailer combination and whether you cross state lines for commerce. We'll advise on whether your operation requires DOT registration.

Yes. GAP coverage bridges the difference between your insurance settlement and your remaining loan balance if your dually is totaled. It's most valuable in the first two to three years of ownership when depreciation outpaces loan paydown.

Yes. We work with carriers that cover lifted, leveled, and modified dually trucks — including custom paint, aftermarket wheels, tonneau covers, and specialty equipment. Not all carriers write modifications, but we know which ones do.

Yes. Dually Insurance writes commercial and specialty personal auto coverage for dually truck owners in all 50 states.
